Bus travel in South America
From Brazil to several countries

I am a travel helper for Brazil mainly and South America in general. South America is famous for long and often uncomfortable bus trips. My purpose in this first entry of mine in my new blog is to let you know about sites of main bus companies serving the area. I have travelled with these companies several times.
1) Rio de Janeiro - Buenos Aires with Crucero del Norte
2) Rio de Janeiro - Buenos Aires with Pluma
You can use Pluma to travel from Rio de Janeiro to Foz do Iguaçu and Crucero del Norte from Rio de Janeiro to Puerto Iguazú - both cities are on the Brazil - Argentina, Border. Pluma also travels to Asuncion, Paraguay. All these buses pass through São Paulo unless otherwise specified. If you are in Foz do Iguaçu and want to travel to Buenos Aires by bus you can take the Crucero del Norte from Foz do Iguaçu.
Excluding border formalities, once on the Argentine side, the trip is faster,more relaxing and the cost of ticket includes meals, with drink. You can also get the Pluma Bus to Buenos Aires but unfortunately the Argentine bus is better than the Brazilian (Sorry to say as a Brazilian). Pluma does not offer food.
Buenos Aires to Lima - I know two companies. Ormeño Buses, Peruvian and El Rapido Internacional from Argentina. Long trip. There is a lot between Buenos Aires and Lima. I don't know whether it is worth to bus straight through. The site also has info on domestic Peru bus travel.
If you are in Caracas and plan to go to Manaus or do the opposite way there is also a bus serving the two points. The company responsible for the adventure is Eucatur based way down south in Brazil. The 2.350-kilometer-long trip takes 32 hours and costs R$ 200,00. R$ stands for Reais. About 2,16 to the US dollar.Cheers!
